Here is where I shall dump whatever I deem appropriate. God help us all if I can’t find spell check somewhere near here.
Now if you've met Mr Cooper, you'd be asking yourself, "How on Earth did they get him so relaxed? And on a pool float?!"For New Years this year we pulled up stakes and met friends in Palm Springs. One of our own conditions was that we would only go if Mr Cooper would go along as well.
Cooper is a handful. When we had Lola and him together it was too much to wrangle him. He requires two people's focus to be out in polite company.
So this was his first hotel vacation. He has done AMAZING. We have also been very lucky to find two hotels that not only accept dogs, but welcome them.We spent our first night at the Ace hotel. Super cute, well appointed and not soundproof in the least. After 2 am the official party around the pool ended and seemed to take the next hour to move directly above our heads.
This afternoon we moved to The Parker. It's a delight. As far as Mr Cooper is concerned, The Parker wins "paws down" due to his welcome bag of water bowl, treats and a toy. He didn't even care that they brought him the all pink girl's welcome gift. He was thrilled to have a toy to gut.
Happy new year to all from me, Lyle and the most spoiled dog I know, Mr Cooper!
As I may have mentioned, we went to Casa Grande, Arizona for the weekend last. We drove away on Friday sometime after 3 pm. That is a cursed time to leave the city. 3 pm on a Friday. And though we took the convertible, sitting in traffic with the top down inhaling fumes from all the cars that surround you is not a pleasant way to kick off a trip.
Every morning Robb's mum takes a half hour walk through the housing development where she lives. Lyle and I joined her and it was beautiful to see all the desert plants in bloom.
We went to dinner at Bedillon's which also houses a historical museum of the area. They have a large outdoor cactus garden that you can wander through while your dinner is being prepared. I had the salmon on a cedar plank with shrimp, mango and corn relish. It was terrifics! The big hit at our table was the bacon wrapped olives stuffed with jalapeno cheese. Sounds a little odd but bacon wrapped anything is always a winner and the cheese was not overpowering at all.
As I promised Lyle, we made a stop at the local Dairy Queen. Hot eats, cool treats.Breakfast? So I got up at 7:30 on a Saturday (normal waking time any other day of the week, about 9) and got showered and dressed pretty to meet at Knott's Berry Farm for Breakfast. They got a little lost but ultimately it was well worth the wait. If only I'd have had more time to spend with them. However I was hosting a birthday party at my house that night for Lyle and had to get home to annoy him.
Uh, like in the morning?
Okay, sure.
Meet at 9?
AM!?
Uh.... (resigned sigh) Sure.
Our friend the amazing florist Brad kindly sent flowers because he could not come to the party. As lovely as they are (and so impressive!) I'd really rather he attended.
Lyle's birthday fell on Chinese New Year this year. So we threw a Chinese themed birthday party. It is the year of the rat this Chinese year. Rats are gross. So I completely ignored that part of the theme and just went with Chinese.
Poor Cooper. He never gets to go anywhere. We got Cooper from a shelter when he was about two. We've had him for a couple of years. When he is good he is a delight. When he is bad, not so delightful. Last summer was his first trip to the beach. This last weekend was his first overnighter.
We have one weekend in February available and this is it (so I guess that actually means no weekends available in February).
Before you conjure up visions of glamorous poolside cocktail parties I will let you know that the weather forecast for Saturday in Palm Springs is a high of 58°. WHAT?!?
I see outlet mall in my future. Coat wearing, sunglass shielding, glove loving outlet shopping.
