Don't judge, Share / Don't judge Cher

I got this fun post via the Post Apocalyptic Bohemian. The idea is to answer a series of questions using the song titles by one artist. He chose The Police because they are an all-time favorite of his. I have selected Cher 1) because I like her, 2) because I have a lot of stuff by her and 3) because she's sung just about every song ever written.

Try it... I got hung up on the last one about food.

Are you male or female? – Just Like Jesse James

Describe yourself – Strong Enough

How do you feel about yourself – If I Could Turn Back Time

Describe where you currently live – Paradise Is Here

If you could go anywhere, where would you go – The Girl From Ipanema

Favorite form of transportation - Taxi, Taxi

Your best friend is – All I Ever Need Is You

Your favorite color is – Am I Blue

What's the weather like – We'll Sing In The Sunshine

If your life was a TV show, what would it be called – One By One

What is life to you – I Hate To Sleep Alone

What is the best advice you have to give – The Beat Goes On / It Aint Necessarily So

If you could change your name, what would it be – Hey Joe

Your favorite food –
All Or Nothing

Listen up!

I got this from Chandra's blog.

How to create the hottest new band (and bypass American Idol).

1 - Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to "Random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Unspectacular Me(me)

I can't believe it, wait, yes I can, I've been tagged by The T-Dude. I really think it may have been a passive aggressive move to just beat his wife to the punch. Everything okay over there kids?

1. Link the person that tagged you.
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 following blogger's by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs letting them know they've been tagged.

The problem is, everything about me is so spectacular! Anything dull or boring is not worth noting. But is the spirit of going along, I will attempt.
  1. I am a night person. Not a morning person. I like the house all quiet at the end of the day with no one needing anything (and that generally means no dogs needing anything either.) I get this from my parents who are in their 70's and stay up later than me (well past 2 am).
  2. Every ounce of stress in my life is kept neatly in one location on my body. In my shoulders. I believe my entire family keeps theirs in the same spot. Is that hereditary?
  3. I hold a grudge. I may move on, but I NEVER forget.
  4. I am afraid of the phone. Wait, is that spectacular or unspectacular? I don't like to answer the phone. I don't like to call people. Caller ID is a godsend. Text messaging is my life.
  5. As Barbie was once programmed to say, "Math is hard. Let's go shopping!" For some odd reason I am unable to do any math in my head unless it involves % off at a store. And then I really only need to be close-ish to the right answer because I'm just trying to figure out if its gotten low enough for me to buy it.
  6. I don't sleep on airplanes. If I'm going to fall asleep it needs to be during takeoff. That's when I am most at bliss. But once I wake up during the flight, I just stay awake. I generally read at least one book per flight.
I won't tag anyone. I never liked chain letters. Fell free to tag yourself however.

Here is a fun game/amusement when you have nothing else to do, are alone, with friends, drunk or ravenously bored. I stole this from this Tyler's blog.

Turn on your itunes, click shuffle and then forward to receive the deep meaningful answer to each question below:

What does next year have in store for me? La Passion - Gigi D' Agostino
Now that is an auspicious year!
What’s my love life like? A Slick Chick on the Mellow Side - Dinah Washington
I am never mellow.
What do I say when life gets hard? Tammy - Ray Conniff
Strangely this is nearly true.
What do I think of on waking up? Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room - Dwight Yoakam
Mostly I think this when I wake up in the dark by myself.
What song will I dance to at my wedding? Let's Call The Whole Thing Off - Michael Feinstein
This would definitely NOT have been the song played at our wedding, and we had no dancing.
What do I want as a career? Karaoke Overkill - Robbie Williams
Mostly I just want Robbie Williams.
My favorite saying? It's Too Late - Gloria Estefan
It's never too late. Oh Gloria, why do you lead us astray?
Favorite place? Lesson 1 Mandarin Chinese - Pimsleur
With all the French music in this blasted itunes, you'd think it could get this one right? Non?
What do I think of my parents? Sing It Back - Moloko
I don't even know this song. It came on a CD marketed as the Best Millenium Music Ever!
What’s my porn star name? La Faute À Voltaire - Les Misérables - Original French Concept Album
Finally some French music. And its showtunes. Pretty gay if you ask me.
Where would I go on a first date? Coca Cola Commercial - Fontella Bass
My musical tastes are clearly odd and varied.
Drug of choice? Something Got Me Started - Simply Red
I would have guessed Sugar by the Archies would have come up if this blasted Ouiji Board of a game really worked. The thing I like doing most? Make Me The Woman That You Go Home To - Gladys Knight & The Pips
Aw, that's just rude. Always calling me a woman.
What is my state of mind like at the moment? Jingle Bells - Singing Cats
How vile is this game that it reveals that I actually have this song in my computer. Bad game! No biscuit! No kibble treats for you in your stocking this year!

How will I die? Lebanese Blonde - Thievery Corporation
Remind me to not travel to Lebanon for a long time...

Book? Book? Read it. Read it.

A chicken walks into the library. It goes up to the circulation desk and says, "Book, book?"
The librarian hands the chicken a book. It tucks it under his wing and runs out.

The next day, the chicken returns, walks up to the desk and says, "Book, book? Book, book?"
This time the librarian gives it two books, and the chicken runs out. The librarian just shakes her head.

Every day the same scenario plays out. Each following day more books are given. 3 books, 4 books, 5 books... finally the librarian's curiosity can take no more. This time as the chicken is running out the door, she follows it.

The chicken runs down the street, through the park and down to the riverbank. There, sitting on a lily pad is a big, green frog. The chicken holds up the first book and shows it to the frog, saying, "Book, book?". The frog blinks, and croaks in return, "Read-it, read-it."

I stole the following book list from a blog that my niece reads. They are all very bookie people and not in the sense that they bet on horse races.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.
Instructions:
A) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
B) Italicize those you intend to read.
C) Underline the books you LOVE (or change the color to blue because I can't underline).
and then I add
D) change the color to pink if you've seen the movie (and perhaps that's good enough for you).

The Name Game

I took this from The T-dude's blog who got it from another blog and decided I should make it all mine.... It's one of those made up name games and I believe Rachel will do it next (she likes these type of things).

1. Your Rock Star name (first pet, current vehicle):
Dewey Volvo that sounds gross.
Fiona Rover getting better.
Minnie C70 well that didn't help at all.

2. Your 'gangsta name (favorite ice cream flavor, favorite shoe):
Dulce Gucci this one was very difficult. Seriously favorite ice cream flavor? Favorite shoe? That's like trying to pick your favorite child. Other options were Vanilla Prada, Pralines Patent Leather, Coffee Lacoste...

3. Your Native American name(favorite color, favorite animal):

Blue Dog see here's the difficulty in doing anything with the word "favorite" - favorite color for what? To wear? To see? For a room? For a car? Eyes? Hair? It never ends...

4. Your Soap Opera name (middle name, city where you were born):

Michael Bellingham

5. Your Star Wars name (first three letters of your last name, first two letters of your first):

Kehji

6. Superhero name (second favorite color, favorite drink):

Pink Water and the world heaves a sigh of relief that my second favorite color is not yellow as who wants to hear the shout "Look! Up in the sky! Headed this way!! It's YELLOW WATER!!!!

7. NASCAR name (first names of your grandfathers):

Donald Charles Christ

8. Stripper name (the name of your favorite perfume, cologne/scent, favorite candy):

Orange Blossom Peanut Butter M&Ms which let's be honest is never going to fit on a marquee so they'll just shorten it to Orange Peanut or Blossom Butter.

9. TV Weather Anchor name (Your 5Th grade teachers' last name, a city that starts with the same letter):

McCormick Minneapolis

10. Spy name (your favorite season/holiday, and your favorite flower):

Christmas Lilac

11. Cartoon name (favorite fruit, article of clothing you're wearing right now):

Raspberry Flip-flop

12. Hippie name (what you ate for breakfast, your favorite tree):

Whole Grain Willow

13. "Adult film" star name (first pet, first street that you lived on):
To shake things up a bit, my first "first pet" names were of cats we had when I was younger. For this one I will use the dog we had when I was "less young".

Sophia West North

Okay then, your turn. Go.

Buona notte Gorino!

Christopher is fabulous but still decided to "tag" me with a meme (I still can't figure out what the hell that means) wherein I must now answer questions that I would never have thought of.

1. Pick a single person, past or present, in the film industry who you'd like to have dinner with, and tell us why you chose this person.

Wow, First I only get to choose one? And my mind begins to race... I've always wanted to meet Alison Janney because I think we'd be fast friends. But that will happen one way or another I don't need a magical dinner. I love Rosalind Russel, but i think I would run into that old adage of thinking I invited Auntie Mame to dinner and then would wind up with some very selfish actor. Better Davis has her legendary dinner temperament to consider, but since I've heard a first hand story from a director who did have her for dinner I think I've gotten close enough.

So on to my actual choice, I just read a quote from him today and I've actually met him once at a big Hollywood benefit where we chatted for about ten minutes over cocktails and I blushed repeatedly and found it hard to breathe as I was so intimidated. All of this earned me the nickname "Gore Vidal's Boy Toy". So I would like to invite Gore Vidal.

2. Set the table for your dinner. What would you eat? Would it be in a home or at a restaurant? And what would you wear? Feel free to elaborate on the details.

We'd eat at my house. That way we wouldn't be interrupted by strangers. I know he has lived in Italy but I fear my Italian dishes are too heavy. We'd go French. And that means I'm going to make Lyle cook. Duck confit, prosciutto and filo wrapped asparagus, baguette, a lite salad, a cheese course, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream for dessert (something homey). Oh and numerous bottles of expensive Italian wine.

The dogs would be freshly bathed. The table cloth would be ironed. I'd hire a server for the evening. I would wear my black Prada pants, black patent loafers, a crisp white shirt with cuff links (good for conversation starting) but no tie or jacket. Wait, do I look like the waiter now? I'm changing my shirt to light blue. I'd also be obsessed over my hair. It would start crazy to look hip, then I'd freak out and make it very preppy conservative. I'd wear my black Hermes belt.

3. List five thoughtful questions you would ask this person during dinner. As if I'd be able to speak... well, I can write these down and just slide them across the table.

When I met him the first time (okay, the only time) my friend Cindy told me I should have asked him about his feud with Truman Capote. So this time I would.

I'd ask him about what drove him to buy a villa in Italy, how it felt to be an expat, and why he has returned to the United States.

I'd ask him what he thinks of the literary world today. Has it really changed from when he started. Is it like everyone childhood memories that get over romanticized in the fuzzy hindsight and things weren't much different?

I'd ask him what he would do to solve all the ills that the last 7 years have brought us and how would he go about raising the standard of the 24 hour news media world we live in.

I'd force him to dish deliciously on the entire experience of making "Myra Breckenridge".

(If you're curious about some of his answers - there's an interview with him)

4. Link back to Lazy Eye Theatre, so that people know the mastermind behind this meme.

5. When all is said and done, select bloggers to pass this Meme along to:

You can't make me do this.

The more we change... the less we change.

I was searching for something in old e-mail and found this from 2002. I still believe it.

Welcome to the next edition of getting to know your friends (part II). Once again, you're supposed to copy (not forward) this entire e-mail and paste it onto a new e-mail
that you'll send. Change all of the answers so they apply to you. Then, send this to a whole bunch of people you know *INCLUDING* the person who sent it to you. The theory is that you'll learn a lot of little known facts about your friends. (ah e-mail chain letters left over from high school note passing. Now we have MEME on our blogs.)

1. WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING?
As Late as Possible! 7:30 for a work day, 10:30 on a weekend. Noon if left to my own devices.
(Now I work from home. 9 or 10 still holds)

2. IF YOU COULD EAT LUNCH WITH ONE FAMOUS PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Allison Janney – from the West Wing and other films. I’d tell her all about that silly dream I had and we become fast friends. My dream had me at a house party at her house. She had a 60's theme and was wearing this fabulous A-line dress with a Mondrian - think Partridge Family bus - pattern to it. At midnight she made everyone (in my dream) get in a circle, take off their costume and pass it to the person on their left. I wound up with her dress but couldn't fit her white go-go boots on. Oh how we laughed and laughed! (in my dream.)

(quick check of old e-mail reveals... "My cold was bad (VERY BAD) last night. Slept in the guest room and unintentionally woke up the whole house coughing through my pillow... Me-thinks it will be a quiet evening home... Laying low today to conserve my energy..." Hey, it sounds like I get sick a lot...) So I don't seem like a complete loser, the year before I spent my birthday in Buenos Aries, Argentina.
